I've pushed a fix for this and it seems to work on Mac OS X. Recent changes added a call from the assembly code into a C function in the run-time system. This seems to have caused problems on a number of platforms so I've changed it to do an indirect call through a data structure.

My last (successful) build was: Poly/ML 5.8.2 Testing (Git version v5.8.1-68-gb4786634). GCC is from Xcode 12.1:
