Weird error with polyc on Fedora 41 under UTM on Apple Silicon

Dear All, I have been trying to get ProofPower to work under Linux on Apple Silicon using UTM and have a working build now. I have a pre-built VM for Fedora 41 and installed the various packages that ProofPower depends on. I was very pleased that the packages for Poly/ML were there and working, but did notice one missing dependency at the first point that the ProofPower make files try to run polyc echo "use\"polyml-build.sml\";" | poly > slrp-bin.log 2>&1 polyc -o slrp-bin slrp-bin.o g++: fatal error: cannot read spec file '/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/redhat-annobin-cc1': No such file or directory The fix was to install the package redhat-rpm-config. What I found particularly odd is that I had checked by hand that gcc was working before I started the ProofPower build and the ProofPower build had successfully compiled some C programs before this failure and has been successfully running poly (as you can see above). So this seems to be something specific to polyc. I thought I’d mention this here (a) in case anyone else comes across the same problem with polyc and wants a fix and (b) because it looks there are some dependencies between packages that are missing in the packages for Poly/ML on this distro (which I can report if understand a bit better what is going on). polyc on Windows msys2-mingw64

Hi there, I compiled Poly/ML on Windows with msys2 and I use it on msysw-mingw64. I compiled a Hello World program but when I try to run it I get into trouble: $ ./a.exe C:/msys64/home/gbuday/a.exe: error while loading shared libraries: libpolyml-14.dll: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory When I check the lib library I see $ ls -l /c/polyml/lib total 2140 -rw-r--r-- 1 gbuday None 1152 May 22 11:17 libpolymain.a -rw-r--r-- 1 gbuday None 932 May 22 11:17 libpolymain.la -rw-r--r-- 1 gbuday None 1151480 May 22 11:17 libpolyml.a -rw-r--r-- 1 gbuday None 1020630 May 22 11:17 libpolyml.dll.a -rw-r--r-- 1 gbuday None 956 May 22 11:17 libpolyml.la drwxr-xr-x 1 gbuday None 0 May 22 11:17 pkgconfig drwxr-xr-x 1 gbuday None 0 May 22 11:17 polyml I used ./configure --disable-windows --enable-windows-64bit --prefix=/c/polyml Was this a mistake? - Gergely

Command not found for polyc on Windows

Hi there, polyc on msys2-mingw64 gives me $ /c/polyml/bin/polyc hello.sml /c/polyml/bin/polyc: line 17: @ARCHINTERPRET64_TRUE@EXTRALDFLAGS=-Wl,-u,WinMain: command not found The mentioned part is #EXTRALDFLAGS="" EXTRALDFLAGS="-Wl,-u,WinMain" @ARCHINTERPRET64_TRUE@EXTRALDFLAGS="-Wl,-u,WinMain" is this a generated shell script? Shall I just remove this last line? - Gergely
